FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

DO YOU DO WEDDINGS AND SPECIAL EVENTS?

We do! Please call and find out if we have your date available. During certain times of the year, we book up quickly.

CAN I JUST WALK IN AND BUY FLOWERS? Of course you can! We always have a nice selection of beautiful and fresh designs available in our cooler along with bundles and bouquets of mixed flowers and roses. If you need something special, we will do our best to accommodate your request - we may be able to design an arrangement for you while you wait or ask you to come back.

WHEN DO YOU GET YOUR PLANTS IN THE GREENHOUSES?
So....WE GROW OUR OWN PLANTS, here in our own greenhouses, here in St. Charles! We have been planting and growing since early December with our first crop of Geraniums. We have a great selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, veggies and ground covers, along with hanging baskets. We are known for our beautiful and unique mixed containers which come in a variety of sizes. If we have a request for other plants we don't grow, we contact other local greenhouses in our area. We work hard to partner with other family businesses like us and to keep our business in the Midwest area.

THE GREENHOUSES ARE OPEN ALL YEAR LONG!
You are welcome to stop in when we are in between crops and growing our plants - We always have tropical plants and some bloomers available. During the summer, we have selected summer annuals, mixed annual containers and we are growing for mums, pansies and poinsettias for the upcoming seasons.

DO YOU CARRY ANY HOUSEPLANTS?
We do! We have a nice selection of houseplants...some low maintenance easy types and some more unique varieties, too. We also grow succulents.

ARE YOU STILL SENDING OUT A NEWSLETTER?
Sadly, our last mailed newsletter went out in 2020. We have and continue to have delivery issues or non-delivery issues with the Post Office. We do have an on-line weekly Ebits, in which we share much information on new varieties, growing tips and happenings here at Parkview. Send us your email address and we are happy to add you - parkviewplaceflowers@yahoo.com

WHEN WILL YOU BE OPEN ON SUNDAY?
We have Sunday hours in the greenhouses April through June. See our hours listed above. We are closed on Easter Sunday.

IS IT TOO EARLY TO PLANT ANNUALS?
The last average frost date for this area is April 15th. We have had hard killing frosts and even snow in to the first week of May.
Tom always advises that you wait to plant outdoors when all the leaves are out on the trees.
Plants purchased from our greenhouses during the months of March and April ARE NOT GUARANTEED against freezing weather.
We encourage you to bring your containers in or cover your plants with a sheet or towel for temperatures 40 degrees and below.
Hanging Baskets should be protected for temperatures dropping below 45 degrees.

IS IT OK TO BRING MY ANNUALS IN AND OUT OF THE HOUSE OR JUST KEEP THEM IN MY GARAGE UNTIL IT'S SAFE FROM FREEZING?
Our greenhouses have the most optimum conditions to grow plants and keep them healthy until you can take them home and safely plant them. Geraniums will be ok in the house for 3 to 5 days - Plants left in the garage will not get enough light. All plants will be need to be watered and fertilized on a regular basis. With any temperatures under 40 degrees, the plants will need to be protected and covered from freezing and frost damage. Did you know there are some of the foliage type annuals that can be brought in after the season and you can enjoy as houseplants through the winter? Ask our staff to point them out to you when you visit.

CAN YOU HOLD PLANTS FOR ME?
Unfortunately we are unable to hold plants...our customers roam all of our greenhouses and when we have tried to accommodate, we just experience angry customers. Other folks have gotten into the hold area and take what is roped off...We know...not nice, yet it happens.

ARE YOU DOG FRIENDLY?
Are you kidding? Have you not met Oliver, the springer spaniel who is the boss of this place? We love our furry friends and you are most welcome to bring them. Please keep your pups on a leash to keep everyone safe.

WHEN IS THE EARLY BIRD SALE FOR 2025?
Our Early Bird Sale is Saturday, May 3, 2025 this year! We try to always have this fantastic event the first Saturday in May. We have fabulous specials in the greenhouses from 7 am until 10:00 am. The Sale is Top Secret...meaning the staff does not know what's on sale. Holly & Tom walk the greenhouses on Friday night after closing and decide what will be on sale...you need to come!!

WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR SPRING HAPPENINGS?
You can go into this same Blog section and find out Spring Happenings - another good resource is to sign up for our weekly Ebits - it's the most current with our all of our Happenings throughout the year . parkviewplaceflowers@yahoo.com

DO YOU CARRY TREES?
We do not carry trees, or evergreen/specialty shrubs, vegetable seed, grass seed or water plants. We do have a nice selection of premium 2 & 3 gallon Proven Winner Flowering Shrubs available.
If you are looking for trees or evergreens, we refer you to:
Frisella's Nursery in Defiance, MO 636-798-2555

Please let them know that Parkview Gardens referred you....we appreciate our fellow green industry businesses AND YOU ARE SUPPORTING OTHER FAMILIY BUSINESSES LIKE US!

WHEN WILL THE FLOWERING VINCA BE READY?
Vinca love it warm and dry - they hate wet, cool weather! We offer them toward the end of April and first week of May.

DO YOU HAVE TOMATOES?
Yes, we have a variety of tomatoes, peppers and other vegetable growing in our greenhouses along with a nice selection of herbs. We offer most of the vegetables toward the last week of April. So you know...until the ground temperatures warm up to around 50 degrees and stay consistent, your plants will just sit in the ground and not actively grow. Poor growth now will affect the yield of your vegetables later. Vegetables and herbs are not available after Memorial Day.

CAN YOU PLANT PERENNIALS NOW?
Yes - we have a nice selection of perennials that have been acclimated to our fluctuating temperatures and would be fine to plant in early April. Any perennial or shrub that is in a container, can be planted throughout the growing season. With the hot summer temperatures, you will need to water more often until the plants are established. We encourage you to have your shrubs and perennials planted in the ground by mid-September so they have time to have adequate root growth before the cold winter comes. We also carry a nice selection of MO Natives - usually earlier in the spring season.

DO YOU HAVE MILKWEED/ASCLEPSIAS?
We do! You will need to be patient. This is a plant that breaks dormancy very late (even in the field). We usually see some growth and activity in the pots after Mother's Day when temperatures, overall are warmer.

WILL YOU HAVE TROPICAL FLOWERING PLANTS (hibiscus/mandevillea, etc)?We will have tropicals delivered to us in mid April. Tropical plants can be set outdoors when the night time temperatures stay consistently above 50 degrees - that's usually sometime after Mother's Day.

DO YOU DO LANDSCAPE DESIGN OR LANDSCAPING?

We do not. Often for smaller areas that you are working on yourself, you can bring in a picture and we can give you some suggestions with the plants that we have available.
If you are needing trees, shrubs, rock work, walls, water features, etc. We do have a list of landscapers and contractors that we can share with you. Please call us at 636-946-7641.

HOW DO THE PARKVIEW CASH CULTIVATORS WORK?
C
ash Cultivators can be used just like cash in our greenhouses and floral shop - they do not expire. We do offer an additional 5% back to the organization from which you purchased them from April 15th until May 15th each year when they are redeemed in our greenhouses for greenhouse purchases.

WHAT ABOUT GROW-PONS?
To use the added value of the Grow-Pons you purchased in March, you must use the full amount between April 15-May 15, 2025. Multiple purchases to use the amount are fine. If for some reason, you are unable to get in between April 15 to May 15, your Grow-Pon is still good for the original amount of your purchase.

EXPLAIN BLOOMIN' BUCKS...
Earn $1.00 for every $20.00 you spend on any purchase from the greenhouses. Bucks are issued 4/1 thru 5/15 only. Redeem for Summer Solstice in June or during the month of September - Look for more details in the Blog Section of this website.

IS PARKVIEW GARDENS CLOSING OR HAVE NEW OWNERS? WE ARE VERY MUCH OPEN ALL YEAR LONG! AND... Tom and Holly Gillette are still the owners and still working with their great Parkview Crew to grow and provide great flowers to our St. Charles Community and beyond. OUR PLANS ARE TO CONTINUE TO GROW!
